I read a good analogy today of why many Christians don't read the Bible very often, or at least not near enough: we tend to treat it like a user's manual, not reading it until we run into trouble or something goes wrong. I thought that analogy was apt. But life is more complicated than anything we've ever bought - something always goes wrong. Nor is it intuitive: the UI sucks and the learning curve is steep. Additional features are hidden, and we don't even know what it's meant to do. You have to take good care of it because there is no warranty, and the rub of it is, you don't even know how long it will last. Get it right, though, and it's so very rewarding.
I need to read the manual more.
